The European Day of Languages (EDL) is an annual celebration to encourage language learning across Europe. EDL has been celebrated every year on September 26th since the European Year of Languages in 2001.

To celebrate this event, students in CCC completed language-based activities within their MFL classes. 1st  year students did a European trivia quiz and sampled some Spanish food, 2nd years also completed some quizzes, listened to animal sounds in various languages and learnt how to say ‘I am your father’ (from Star Wars) in different languages. ! The French Department also organised a screening of the film Le Petit Nicolas for 1st and 2nd year students of French.

TY and LC1 students did music quizzes, wrote poetry in the target language and made posters on how and why to learn languages, which were displayed around the school.

In the afternoon, TY French and Spanish students joined forces to sample some pâté and cheese and other delicious European foods. Some played the French game of Pétanque and the Swedish game Mölky!

We are looking forward to our next EDL event next year!

A l’année prochaine!  ¡Hasta el año próximo! Bis nachstes Jahr!
